Multisensory Structured Language (MSL) Instruction

« Back to Glossary Index

An instructional approach that simultaneously uses several senses, such as sight, hearing, and touch to help students understand the structure of language in a systematic way. Skills and knowledge are reinforced through visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile senses to help students learn to read and write. Children of all ages benefit from MSL instruction, and this approach is critical for those with dyslexia.
