#1 WRS Level I Steps 1-6 Web-based Practicum Participants

If you are currently enrolled in the WRS Level I Steps 1-6 Web-based Practicum course AND you are able to continue providing 1:1 in-person WRS Lessons to your practicum student, you can proceed with your course requirements by conducting your lessons and contacting your trainer to arrange your online observations as usual.

If lessons with your practicum student become suspended due to a school closure, quarantine, or other pandemic-related event that restricts your ability to deliver the 1:1 in-person WRS Lessons, please know that you have the following options available to you:

If possible, you may temporarily deliver your WRS Lessons to your practicum student in a virtual, or online, setting. This approach would need to be supported by your school district (if applicable) and the practicum student’s parents or guardians. If this format of lesson delivery is something you’d like to explore, please know that you will need to keep a written record of your work by documenting lesson plans, student dictation work, and progress charts as usual.

If it’s not possible to temporarily deliver WRS Lessons online, you should plan on resuming 1:1 in-person lessons with your practicum student when schools re-open and/or it’s appropriate to do so. Previously scheduled web-based observations may need to be postponed, so please stay in touch with your assigned trainer.

Please remember you have a total of 12 months to complete your WRS Level I Certification requirements. This includes the online and practicum components. Your course end date can be found on the My Transcript page at Wilson Academy. All documented WRS lessons and observations completed within your initial 12-month enrollment period WILL COUNT toward your practicum course completion.

If you need more than 12 months to complete your requirements because practicum lessons were suspended for a period of time, please contact Wilson Language Training 30 days prior to your course end date to request an extension. It’s our goal to ensure that you have the opportunity to finalize your Wilson certification requirements despite any unforeseen interruptions you may encounter. If you are unable to complete the required 65 practicum lessons and 5 observations with your original practicum student, please contact your assigned trainer to discuss next steps.

#2 WRS Level I Steps 1-6 Practicum Participants (with in-person observations)

If you are currently enrolled in the WRS Level I Steps 1-6 Practicum course with in-person observations AND you are able to continue providing 1:1 in-person WRS Lessons to your practicum student, you can proceed with your course requirements by conducting your lessons as usual. However, due to the current restrictions on travel, the following options for scheduling your observations should be explored with your assigned Wilson® Credentialed Trainer:

All WRS Level I Steps 1-6 Practicum participants are allowed to submit up to two video-recorded lessons for observations at any point during their course enrollment. Due to the current situation, we are relaxing this policy so that you can submit more than two video-recorded lessons for observations, if needed. Please check with your trainer to explore this option for proceeding with observations.

It may be possible to schedule web-based observations with your trainer. If you’d like to explore this temporary option for observations, please get in touch with your trainer.
