Working Together…Apart

Dear Wilson community,

It is our sincerest hope that you, your families, students, and colleagues are staying healthy and safe during this unprecedented time.

Amid such uncertainty, there is hope. We see this in the messages and photos from teachers and parents who are finding ways to adapt to current conditions.

We commend our colleagues in education for their professionalism and perseverance in responding to this crisis, whether providing remote learning opportunities or supporting the needs of your students, communities, and families in other ways. Your skills and commitment do not go unnoticed. We are appreciative of and inspired by the many examples of how all educators are addressing and overcoming new and unexpected challenges, and are again reminded that we are part of a truly amazing and dedicated community.

While many educators are transitioning to remote learning, we realize there are many others whose circumstances have not allowed for that at this time. Please know that we remain steadfast in our mission to support all teachers and will continue to provide relevant information via email and online, including through our Supporting Students During COVID-19 Closures webpage and updated resources available in Wilson Academy.

The health and safety of the Wilson community are our highest priorities, so we have made the decision to cancel this summer’s Conference for WRS Certified Teachers and our Wilson® Trainer Meeting that were scheduled for July in Boston. Coming together as a group has always been a highlight of our year, and we look forward to doing that again next summer.

Although our physical offices remain closed, our staff is working hard to support our community of educators remotely. Our customer support team remains ready to assist you, the development team is diligently preparing resources for teachers and students, the education team is collaborating closely with districts to advance their planned professional learning activities, and our materials distribution center continues to ship orders to homes.

Wise beyond his years, the inspirational young poet Mattie Stepanek once said, “Unity is strength…when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” This sentiment applies in myriad circumstances, across time, and the world over, and strikes us as particularly appropriate in today’s challenging times.

Thank you for your ongoing dedication to helping students achieve literacy, no matter the circumstances. You have our sincerest gratitude for all your efforts. Most importantly, please stay safe!

With our very best wishes,

Barbara, Ed, and your friends at Wilson
