On-Call Trainer Lead/Senior Dyslexia Specialist

Donna Micklewright, M.Ed., W.C.T, W.D.T, has worked in the field of education for forty years. During her twenty-year public-school career, she worked as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, and reading specialist in the Chicago Public Schools and Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada.

During those years, Donna received numerous grants and awards for her work, including the Excellence in Education Award and selection as a Golden Apple Finalist. She also served as Vice President of the former Illinois Branch of the International Dyslexia Association.

Donna began a private tutoring practice in 2002; the same year she became a credentialed “On call” trainer/consultant for Wilson Language Training. Donna joined Wilson Language Training as an official employee in 2009 working as a Credentialed Trainer/ Literacy Specialist and most recently as a Senior Dyslexia Training Specialist. She has conducted years of presentations, workshops, teacher certification, coaching, and consultation in the Wilson Reading System, Fundations, and Just Words, serving school districts around the country. Donna also mentors and supervises Wilson Trainer Interns.

Deanna Fogarty, M.Ed., W.C.T., W.D.T., is the Vice President & Head of Reading Science at Wilson Language Training. She earned a B.A. in Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and an M.Ed. from Worcester State University.

She has taught in a variety of educational settings as an elementary school teacher. Deanna completed her Wilson Reading System® Level I Certification in 1994 and implemented the program with students with dyslexia in school and private tutoring settings for over 14 years. In 1998, she became a Wilson® Credentialed Trainer and has worked with teachers across the country during their Wilson Reading System professional learning and certification courses. 

In Deanna’s current leadership position, she provides guidance and oversight for high-quality professional learning programs, the credentialing of literacy professionals, and reading curriculum development. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Alliance—a united association of organizations that provide excellence in dyslexia education. Deanna is also the parent of a young adult with dyslexia.

Makenzie Buhman is a member of the Dyslexia Training Specialist Team. She holds a Reading Specialist Certification and a master's degree in education administration. Before coming to Wilson, she worked in public education for 18 years as a Reading Specialist, supporting students with literacy skills, and implementing the Wilson Reading System and Fundations. Makenzie also held a dual role serving as a Literacy Coach and credentialed LETRS Facilitator in the state of Pennsylvania.
