Gina’s Letter of Appreciation

Donna Forbes is the Assistant Principal of Burr Intermediate School, Commack, NY, where she began as a reading teacher. Her practicum student for WRS Levels I and II certification programs was Gina G., “whose progress and enthusiasm for the program,” said Donna, “inspired me to become a Wilson District Trainer.” Gina just received her BSW, Cum Laude, from Stony Brook University. Donna adds, “Many thanks to the Commack UFSD who continue to value and support Wilson programs in our schools.”

Hi Mrs. Forbes,

How are you? I hope all is well with work and your family.

I have some very exciting news! I just found out last night that I have been accepted into the Advanced Standing master’s program at Stony Brook University for the fall of 2014. This means that I will complete graduate school in one year instead of two. I will have my Master’s degree in Social Work next May. I want to thank you for all that you have done for me. You always believed in me and pushed me to do my best. If it was not for you and the Wilson Reading System I do not think I would be where I am today. I consider you my hero. You gave me so much hope and never once did you give up on me or show your frustrations with me. I still remember our days together back in elementary school until the 10th grade, and those memories I will forever keep close to my heart. I needed to share the good news with my favorite teacher of all time!

With lots of love,

Gina G.
