A partnership to prepare teachers

By partnering with Wilson Language Training (WLT), Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA, offers graduate credits for eligible Fundations, Just Words, or Wilson Reading System (WRS) professional learning. Anyone who completes the qualifying coursework is eligible to apply for graduate credit.

  • General Education Classroom (Tier 1) Foundational Skills with Fundations Facilitator Certification Course (Level K, 1, 2, or 3)
  • Credits: 3 credits
  • Cost: $335
  • Application requirements: Complete all Fundations Facilitator requirements and proficiency measures successfully for specific Level. Note: Credit will only be granted for one Level of certification even if multiple Levels are completed.

Intervention (Tier 2) Foundational Skills with Fundations Facilitator Intervention Certification Course

  • Credits: 3 credits
  • Cost: $335

Application requirements:
Complete all Fundations Facilitator Intervention requirements and proficiency measures successfully.

  • Classroom (Tier 2) Foundational Skills with Just Words Facilitator Certification Course
  • Credits: 3 credits
  • Cost: $335
  • Application requirements:
    Complete all Just Words Facilitator requirements and proficiency measures successfully.

  • Credits: 1 credit
  • Cost: $250
  • Application requirements:
    • Live face-to-face/in-person/virtual course: complete attendance requirements and successfully participate in all course components.
    • Online/asynchronous course: complete all assessments for the course
  • WRS Steps 1-3 and Topics (Part 1)
  • Credits: 3 credits
  • Cost: $335
  • Application requirements:
    Complete all assessments for Steps 1-3 and Topics I, and 3 threaded discussion topics*
  • WRS Steps 4-6 and Topics (Part 2)
  • Credits: 3 credits
  • Cost: $335
  • Application requirements:
    Complete all assessments for Steps 4-6 and Topics II, and 3 threaded discussion topics.*
  • Credits: 3 credits

  • Application requirements:
    Complete all Level I Practicum requirements successfully.

The Graduate Credit fees, determined by Fitchburg State University (FSU), are current as of June 1, 2022. These fees are subject to change. You will apply directly with FSU, and course fees will be paid directly to FSU. The fees for graduate credit are separate from the cost of taking the course. Reimbursements or withdrawals are not possible with this application process.

Please be aware of the following if you are planning to apply for Fitchburg State University (FSU) graduate credit:

  • All course or course part requirements must be completed before applying for graduate credit.
  • You have 60 days after completing a course or course part to submit the application for credit.
  • Registration can be submitted at any point during the 60 days post course completion.
    • NOTE: Grades for Fitchburg State University students are reviewed at the end of each month for those who have registered for credit. Once the monthly review process is complete, grades are typically issued and posted to student records prior to the middle of the following month.
    • After completing a course or course part, access the pertinent application for credit form from the Fitchburg State University Wilson Language Training Program webpage. If you have previously set up a Fitchburg State student record, you may instead access this link to register for graduate credit for your completed course.

    • Students can view their grades online through Fitchburg State University’s My Falcon site. If you need assistance logging in, please contact the Registrar’s Office at Fitchburg State University at 978.665.4196. 

    • Applications submitted after the 60-day application period has elapsed, permission to apply from Fitchburg State University is required. They can be reached at 978-665-4196 or registrar@fitchburgstate.edu. 
    • If you wish to earn credits in a particular semester, keep in mind that credits will be earned for the semester in which the application form is processed. Grade reports and transcripts will reflect the following University course semesters, if received within the dates listed:
      • Spring Semester (January 1st to May 17th)
      • Summer Session A (May 18th to June 30th)
      • Summer Semester B (July 1st to August 11th)
      • Fall Semester (August 12th to December 31st)
