Fluency Readers help students build reading fluency through engaging fiction and nonfiction chapter books that strengthen vocabulary, background knowledge, and comprehension.
Overview
As students develop greater automaticity in word recognition, they need sustained opportunities to build fluency through longer, connected text. Fluency Readers help bridge word recognition and language comprehension while building the vocabulary and background knowledge that strong comprehension depends on.
Fluency Readers for Level 3 include 30 fiction and nonfiction chapter book titles organized into knowledge-building text sets and aligned to the Fundations Level 3 Scope and Sequence. Built-in vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and assessment supports help teachers extend instruction while reducing preparation.

Using Fundations® Readers and Fluency Readers Together
For Levels K–2, Fundations® Readers provide highly decodable connected-text practice that helps students build accuracy, automaticity, and early fluency and comprehension skills. As students’ reading skills grow, Fluency Readers for Level 3 provide the next opportunity to apply taught skills in longer, increasingly complex connected text—helping students build reading fluency while strengthening vocabulary, background knowledge, and comprehension. Together, they support students as they progress toward increasingly complex reading and deeper comprehension.
